Your mission (should you choose to accept it) is to come up with a better version of MI2 for audiences in summer 2000

Synopsis:
Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) is now in charge of his own IMF team (Ving Rhames, Dougary Scott, Thandie Newton) . He receives his new mission (Patrick Stewart cameo). To investigate and solve the 'millennium bug' which potentially threatens the western world. Which leads him to several continents (Europe: Scotland, Switzerland. America: NYC, San Francisco. Australia) and a sinister computer tech villain (Kevin Bacon) and his deadly associate (Carrie Anne Moss), ultimately uncovering an even more deadly plot/twist in a mission to prevent catastrophic worldwide disaster.
