The Ukraine

Just wanted to say that this bitch said _The_ Ukraine and he said that in a bad connotation, so *beep* him.

Otherwise good movie.

To be fair, the Ukraine in 1997...

11 years after Chernobyl. Economic decline characterized by high inflation and a continued reliance on state controls, and political instability. In small town USA they probably thought it was still part of the Soviet Union.

I think perhaps you're being a little over sensitive about the Ukraine considering it was a throw-away line in an American comedy. I could complain about the American movies that make fun of England and the English, or that Hollywood STILL loves to cast Brits as villains (Idris Elba in Star Trek Beyond comes to mind)...

And by the way I went to Kiev (and Chernobyl) in April 2013 and had a wonderful time. It was shocking to see the riots six months later, and it looked like a bomb had exploded in Independence Square. I stayed at the Hotel Ukraine.
