Problem with the beginning

Don’t get me wrong this movie is awesome but in the very first scene we see Americans shooting soldiers in cold blood and abducting a man who was in the middle of sleeping. We are then told what a horrible person Radek was and I’m sure he was, but wouldn’t it have been more effective to maybe start with showing the war crimes Radek committed and then show his capture? You know, show don’t tell. We never actually see Radek do anything horrible we are just told what he did.
