terrible movie

I'm afraid I could only watch 40 minutes of this movie. Continuing would have been too painful. It could be because I'm not Macedonian. But am always interested in learning new things...

Nothing in this movie is believable : the actors look like they've never acted before; the director has no sense of what is important to show and what's not (e.g. spilling a cup of tea over some photos is a useless shot in this case); the dialogues are phony; the landscape shots look fake.

I do not understand why that movie is rated a 8.1 and least why it was nominated for an Oscar...

This only confirms the fact that you don't know nothing about film making.Period.

Couldn't agree more!

I agree with you, psychonoid_604

This is a brilliant complex film, and the acting is superb.

It's not and "easy" film to understand, so you do have to give it some thought after viewing, but the clues are there. The most important one (said by the priest in the beginning, then later seen as graffiti on a London Wall)is "TIME NEVER ENDS, THE CIRCLE IS NOT ROUND"

reply

Maybe you don't. The directing is bland, sloppy and doesn't draw you into the movie. This is a grossly overrated flick.

Well, mariannemichallet at least explained why (s)he didn't like the movie -- you guys could also give at least some arguments. That someone doesn't like exactly the same things that you doesn't mean they don't know anything about cinema. I'm not Macedonian either, and although I really liked the movie, I think it does have some weaknesses.

I think the soundtrack is amazing, I didn't feel the landscape was fake and the tense and yet subtle story bween Kirill and the Albanian girl was so beautiful and tragic, it's really beyond compare. The first part shocked me so much that I felt that the 2nd and 3rd part of the movie could not produce the same tension again. And also, I didn't like Catrin Cartlidge's acting, and I thought certain scenes were absolutely pointless.

I think you really should watch it through the end and maybe your opinion will change. It's not a perfect film but is quite special and is worth watching.

that scenes is meant to look like that...

I found this film to be powerful and memorable. The multiple time frames, story-lines and points of view, makes for a compelling and thought-provoking narrative. While the scene in the restaurant lapses into mixed melodrama, the film as a whole is quite successful and well worth the attention required to follow and appreciate the many threads in this rich tale.

No, actually I think that no good movie can have pointless scenes. If you mean that the purpose of a scene is to show that something (violence, someone's life, etc.) makes no sense, that's okay but that's different. What I don't like is when certain scenes don't add anything to the movie. I just couldn't decide what the entire London restaurant scene was doing in the movie -- but it's been a while since I last saw it so maybe if I watched it today, I would see it differently.

go ahead and post a link to a film that you have made, so that we can see a better example of filmmaking
