scene confusion?

in the Hazardous Warehouse Scene at the end, when "Axe" and Bull" are holding holding on to each other by hands, when Bull let goes of Axe, how did Bull get that god awful injury to his left side, every time i see that im like owe, so can someone please enlighten me on the cause of his injury please.
