r.i.p James Horner... and thank you!

So very sad to hear of the passing of composer James Horner in a plane crash - he brought us so many great movie scores... Aliens, Cocoon 1 + 2, Titanic, Braveheart, Star Trek II: Wrath Of Kahn + III: Search For Spock, Catholic Boys, American Tail, Honey I Shrunk The Kids, Field Of Dreams, Apocalypto, Glory, Apollo 13, Avatar and the list goes on and on - plus songwise "Somewhere Out There" from American Tail, "My Heart Will Go On" from Titanic etc.

His Cocoon score is a personal favourite of mine and so beautiful - like much of his music which could also be thrilling, uplifting, tense, exciting and evoking of so many more emotions that added so much to the movies he scored. Rest peacefully James... and thank you!

Nice tribute.

I can only agree with it all. This is a beautiful movie, one of my favourites of all-time, but I don't think without this touching score, the film would have worked nearly as well, it speaks out at all the emotionally charged moments, and to the mystery of the antaerians, one of the best scores of all time, and is the truest showcase of Horner's talents, he went on to do more commercially successful work, but for me, this is the zenith of his career, so much so, that I'm listening to it now in his honour.

RIP. And thank you!
