I've decided to try and watch all of the top 250 films and am surprised by some of them.

I quite enjoyed this film, I liked the 1930s feel to it and was pleased the way it all came together in the end (although I didn't really get the point of the waitress assassin or the fake police talking to Hooker about the planned raid). I felt that I got lost at times but the film kept my interest the whole way through.

I don't think Jurassic Park deserves to be in the top 250 films whereas I think some like True Romance probably do, over films like Dr Strangelove and Bridge over the River Kwai anyway. I sometimes feel that people vote more emotional films more highly than they deserve (which may be why a lot of war films are in the top 250) as opposed to feel good films which are usually rated lower.

I have a question: Rebel Without a Cause is a fun movie?

reply

Yeah... Rebel Without a Cause is rather somber and depressing. I like it, but it's not what I would describe as "fun."

On the other hand, The Sting is loads of lighthearted fun!

reply

The point of the fake police was to get the real police off Hooker's back. The rest I dunno, hehe.

How old are you? Maybe the answer to that will help.

I was thinking the same thing. There are a lot of movies that are intentionally confusing and lead to pages and pages of discussion on what the writer meant. This movie isn't one of those. While it's a very dense story and *we* get scammed along with the mark, once the movie plays out we see that everything happened for a reason.

In addition to age, I suspect that this movie might be difficult to watch if the viewer is intellectually challenged.

Is very bad to steal Jobu's rum. Is very bad.

Everything is hard for the intellectually challenged. I don't think that most youth today are actual sub-intellectuals, I think that they are not routinely challenged to think and are used to being told what they are to think so they don't have the practice of actual thinking.

Dr. Strangelove is da bomb !!!$ ;)

I don't think "Rebel Without A Cause" is regarded as a "fun" movie, unless you're amused by dead teenagers, families torn apart, etc.

That being said, the ridiculous premise and Dean's ultra-hammy performance actually are kind of funny.
