What in the hell is lee Marvin adding water to jwb for

reply

yeah i noticed that, 50/50

but
jwb isnt top shelf , so for that im a 80/20 guy...

reply

Well, I always thought JWB was better than Chivas, or Pinch, which were considered Top Shelf

When I 1st started drinking scotch at the age of 18, in 1973, There were NO single-malts available. and most 12 year old blended whiskies were considered Top Shelf

The only water I ever added to scotch was Ice

reply

I believe adding a splash of water actually opens up favors in scotch/whiskey.

reply

Opens up favors?
I’ve drunk scotch with many a woman.
Never had that effect that I’ve seen.

reply

Yes water indeed does open the flavor

reply

Yeah.
Can't do it.
Especially since I drink it straight from the bottle.

reply

Cuz you heard that puts hair on your chest?

Newsflash, macho man: all whisky has water added.
Every bottle ever made.

reply

I tried adding water to whiskey once and it tasted horrible. Nothing against chasing straight whiskey with nice, cold water, though.

reply

Exactly. The best scotch I ever had was one day when I drank about half of a glass of J&B on the rocks and then came back with most of the ice was melted and the taste was so smoky and subtle and not overwhelmed by volatile alcohol ... still remember that one drink years later, and the scotch was not even that great. It doesn't matter.

reply

Whiskey is good with water added ... what are you some hardcore alcoholic?

reply

35 years ago I was drinking JB at Caesars Palace at the barge. (Great times back then) And it does taste good with a splash of water.
