This film,for me,still rocks !-and i'm talking after all these yrs.when i first saw it in 1960 !
It is just pure fun;
-i think what works is that there is a serious tone established right from the start. And :
too,the characters work off each other superbly-in which,one likes & cares about them.
Lastly,there is a creepy,eerie quality to the Mars' scenes which after all these years still resonate a gnawing uneasiness.

I thought you were going to say after all these years it's still as bad as you remembered it.
I remember seeing this movie on "Weird", a late night Sci-Fi movie show in Houston, Texas in the
60's. About all I can remember now is the giant amoeba.
The effects of these old shows are nothing compared to todays, but they had to do their best
and to try to make things interesting. Still, I remember this as being a pretty bad movie.
I still have memories jumbled up of a lot of these old movies, many of which I have forgotten
what the titles were. Probably just as well ... kind of a waste of time.
I saw this movie when it came out. I was a kid and the martian peering through the porthole scared the begeezes out of me. I had nightmares about it. THAT is movie making magic.
