John Forsythe is not very good in this one

I liked him on the small screen, Bachelor Father Dynasty, etc.
but he was so unnatural here.
He was the worst character in the movie.

I have to agree with you. He seemed too clean-cut, well-spoken, and rather square to be playing an eccentric artist type. And it's too bad, because, like you, I like JF in so many other things. But here, he seemed out of place. And always wearing that sweater vest?? yikes!

Never saw him in anything else, but I enjoyed him in TTWH. During the few first minutes, I agree he was a bit strained and overracting-I thought his character would be secondary. But afterwards, he took off very nicely in my opinion, and gave a quirky and likeable performance.

I thought he was good actually. I found him funny and entertaining.

Agreed, rather wooden with unconvincing delivery.

I thought he was the best character in the movie - or rather second best after Ms Gravely. Shirley McLaine was rather irritating.
