Why do they always have to have different actors to play dream curly + laury?

I've noticed that in this movie, the one with Hugh Jackman and the oklahoma production I'm in. Unless they're bad dancers why do they have to have different actors to play them?

As said it has to do with the level of dancing required. Usually the regular Curly and Laura are chosen for acting and singing ablity, and don't have the necessary dance skill level.

Also in the original staging Laurey is still on stage asleep in the chair.

The 1998 London revival with Hugh Jackman didn't use dance doubles. Jackman and Josefina Gabrielle did their own dancing. It was the first time in the history of the show that the two leads did not require dance doubles. When that production transferred to Broadway in 2002 (with Patrick Wilson replacing Jackman, who was busy filming X-Men 2), Wilson and Gabrielle also did their own dancing.
