Sensational

I just saw this for the first time and was bowled over by it. I had been familiar with most of Billy Wilder's classics for years, but had never seen Ace. Kirk Douglas has never been better. The closest thing I could liken his character to would be in Breaking Bad when Walter White starts going into Heisenberg mode. I'm enjoying the Criterion Collection extras too. Kirk Douglas is a bright man with interesting insights on Wilder and the film. I can't recommend this strongly enough. Even though this flopped upon release, it has gained in stature over the decades. This may be Billy Wilder's best film.
