I think you're mistaken. I can't find evidence of this anywhere. There is however a documentary about Saddam Hussein with the same name coming out in earlyu September.
Do you have a link to something saying it's Wilder's Ace?
I believe the title of the Hussein DVD is Ass in the Hole!.

Unfortunately, Billy Wilder's Ace in the Hole (aka The Big Carnival) is tied up in litigation (it has been for decades) and we won't be seeinging it for (quite) a while on DVD--at least a legit copy.
Too bad Ace In The Hole AKA "The Big Carnival" is tied up. I have a copy of this I taped off AMC last year but, it's a crappy copy. I used to watch this move all the time on late night TV before informercials. When it does finally come out on DVD, I'll be in line to snatch it up. I believe this was one of Kirk Douglas's finest pieces of work. His character Chuck Tatum was sleazy, arrogant and self serving. Too bad it did so poorly in he theaters but, this dusty gem will glow once re-released in a modern format!
Looks like the "Ace" we thought we would see on DVD on 9/6 turns out to be a documentary about Saddam Hussein. If Chuck Tatum found Saddam in that hole, he could have taken all the time in the world on that "rescue".

shareIt may be the DVD documentary about Saddam. HOWEVER, if you go to "Ace in the Hole, AKA 'The Big Carnaval'" on Amazon, they have an announcement that this DVD will be released December 31, 1969. I believe the year is wrong, should be 2005, but they are taking pre-orders. I've got my order in, and hope to spend time around New Year's watching Kirk Douglas at his most ruthlessly vicious and powerful! This is Wilder's masterwork, as great as "Double Indemnity" or "One, Two, Three"!

shareI'm pretty sure that the "December 31, 1969" Amazon release date is not a typo, but a placeholder. In other words, when you see that, it means there is no scheduled release date; they have no idea when it will be available. Sorry Charlie. I see AITH is available on Ebay with permanently implanted Portuguese subtitles. Hmmmm. Anyone care to speculate on the picture quality?
