This script could be from the 90's

After watching it for the first time I was amazed that the storyline could have been written in the 1990's or 2000's because of the undercurrent of either PTSD from WWII (Irag/Afghanistan) or anger management or a combination of both.

I often imagine that if there had been a remake, a 90s-era Sean Penn and Robin Wright would have been a perfect Dixon and Laurel, as their real-life on/off, tumultuous marriage would have given a very real foundation for the on-screen relationship...

PTSD has always been around. In WWI they called it "shell shock", in WWII "battle fatigue". The ancient Greeks probably had a name for it. Maybe "sword anxiety".
