HEAR,HEAR!!!
Still verklempt over this business...miss him already!
He still has one flick in the pipeline, so there's that...it will be his 199th acting credit, and with an unlisted credit for the Care Bears movie (credit for that factoid goes to gcarras, a poster in my eulogy thread)
That would be 200acting credits!!!QUITE AN IMPRESSIVE CAREER INDEED!!!

reply

Wow!!!
If only he could have done ONE more Care Bear movie or a second surfing documentary...really would have been full closure for us fans
But alas...

reply

I just heard. Rip Harry. You will be greatly missed as an actor.

reply

At least Swayze (and co.) "Avenged" him

I vaguely remember that film - is it the one where they make a kid piss into the radiator of a car or something?

reply

RED DAWN (1984)
Harry Dean Stanton plays the father who's been kidnapped by the pesky Russians (who plan to take over America) and shouts to his kids (from the other side of the prison camp fence) "Avenge Me!"

Classic scene (never understood why they didn't open the fence up with wire-snippers, though?)

Oh that's sad. Such a great character actor. The second of the original Alien cast to pass away.

I'll always remember his low key "right" in Alien. His character had little to say, but such a strong presence.

R.I.P. Thanks for all your fine work.

Other than his character in FWWM & TPTR, his role as Brett was my favourite.

Waiting to see Lucky at the end of the month to change that - it was about time he got top billing!

reply

I only knew him from Big Love, and although I hated his character he was a good actor. RIP.

The last movie I saw Harry Dean Stanton in was "CHRISTINE"
