1. The Lost Boys

Good list, nice variety of styles, etc. In a similar way (or not necessarily the best ten movies, but ten of good variety) I would go for (probably more mainstream)...

1.- Taxi Driver

2.- Infernal Affairs

3.- Blazing Saddles

4.- Shawshank Redemption

5.- Kung Fu Hustle

6.- Frenzy

7.- Cache (Hidden)

8.- The Night Of The Hunter

9.- Singin In The Rain

10.- The Great Dictator

Thank you for including "Shawshank Redemption" as most who I know (myself included) often refer to that film as "The Movie."

reply

you left out Team America

reply

I've seen 7 of them

reply

Oh yeah which ones?

An interesting and eclectic list. I would add:

Citizen Kane
Casablanca
The Godfather
Gone With The Wind
The Wizard of Oz
Apocalypse Now
Dr Strangelove
M*A*S*H*
Rocky
A Clockwork Orange
Saving Private Ryan
A Night at the Opera
Pulp Fiction

Of course I realize that would make it more than 10. :-)

In no particular order

Shawshank Redemption (Best film ever)
Bladerunner (Never tire of watching it & soundtrack)
The Fall (Such a beautiful but sad story and for it's imagery - a work of art)
Alien (Best claustrophobic horror)
The Dark Knight (Heath Ledger - say no more)
Titanic (For the second half of the film after it hit the iceberg, seen in 3d at cinema)
Star Wars IV: A New Hope (Changed the movie world forever)
The Matrix (For the red pill)
Galaxy Quest (Because it's really funny)
Pulp Fiction (Best Tarantino)

At least im not the only one who thought galaxy quest is funny ;-)

I watched it again the other week with a friend who hadn't seen it before and it still made me laugh even though I knew what bits were coming up.

It's one of the funniest comedy's I've ever seen I think but it also helps to be a Star Trek fan to really appreciate it.

Also it's worth it just for Alan Rickman's performance alone.

reply

I agree i am also a big star trek fan so i also appreciate it better then someone who is not a star trek fan.
Also Alan Rickman! Yes i loved it ''by grabthar's hammer'' ;-)

reply

The show must go on.
