The Wire VS The Sopranos--Which Is The Greater Classic?

Both are amazing series, but which do you think is the greater achievement in television?

I see The Sopranos as more of an extremely personal character-study and The Wire as a sprawling epic about a society in decay.

Of course, The Sopranos makes more than a few comments on society too.

Personally, I prefer The Sopranos, but that's just how I roll. They are both outstanding shows, however, admittedly, I lean slightly more toward the inner-angst.

It's all about the BHB Team: Radioactive Lundy and Cyclops Doakes in Season 5.

The Sopranos.

p.s. i have only currently seen the first 4 episodes of 'The Wire' but it's unlikely it will top The Sopranos in the long run as i generally like the Gangster Genre quite a bit and the characters in that where solid.

Well all i wanna say is don't judge The Wire on just 4 episodes .It's defenitely a show where if you get the complete picture it's better in quadrant.
Sopranos improves also if you seen alla 7 Seasons and know the whole history and events that occured in the Mafia Family of the Sopranos.
The Sopranos for me also become more interesting for me in Season 2 when i became more familiar with that world.
That said i loved The Wire a bit more because it's so authentic and ambitious in it's portrayal of an american City and society is in decline. That combined with it's cynical humor and amazing characters in all their different nature made it for me that it topped The Sopranos.
The Sopranos is amazing tough how it combines the psychology and impact on Pop Culture through the eyes of the Sopranos Family.Sopranos is an amazing show an more than a Mafia Soap which it sometimes is reffured to.

HBO shows Rock check out Deadwood and Six Feet Under too.

Sopranos!

If Shakespeare coined all those words, weren't they just nonsense back then?
