Ensign O'Toole (1962)

The episode I remember is the one where USS Appleby is directed to some deserted Pacific island to pick up some US Marines who are still fighting World War II. O’Toole and his men land, make contact with the marines, but they think it’s a Japanese trick.

“We’re here to take you home. The war has been over for 17 years.”

“Oh, yeah? If you're Americans, where do the Dodgers play?”

“Los Angeles.”

BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG!

“No, really, the Dodgers moved to Los Angeles.”

“Yeah and I bet the Giants moved to Salt Lake City.”

“No. San Francisco.”

BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG!

The marines are finally convinced the war is over, everyone sails to Pearl Harbor and live happily ever after.

My late father loved this series. I have no memory of it at all. I just recall he and my mom talking about "Ensign O'Toole".
