Are these pics considered copyrighted material

I have to do a poster board for a convention coming up and my theme is very old time so I wanted to use a ink and quill pic for my background. However, the rules for the convention are no copyrighted material. I want to know would these be considered copyrighted. To me its no different then using the backgrounds from Microsoft word or power point.

I was told by someone that if it is a stock photo that it's not considered copyrighted and can be used by anyone? Is this correct?

if it's a stock photo, you have to pay for it.

You mention a link? Better open it & read what it says. You can always email someone if you want to use their picture.
