French and Saunders

I love love love these women!

They're two of the funniest and most talented performers I can think of. And the production values of their parody shows is sometimes just breathtaking!

Totally agree!

I agree with everything you've said, but I must be honest and say I prefer their solo work to the French and Saunders show. Sometimes it seemed to go on for a just a bit too long and was a bit too repetitive. Can't fault the production values of the parodies though.

I think most people prefer French to Saunders
... but that's maybe because Saunders is better at insecure, cooly characters who aren't really family sitcom material, eg. Absolutely Fabulous

Their film parodies are the best bit. Especially the darker early 90s like Misery, Silence of the Lambs and Whatever Happened to Baby Jane.

I just posted this on another French & Saunders thread, not realizing there were two. Here's what I posted:

I loved their "Monarch of the Glen" sketch: Monarch of the Glum http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=OTJydj-meXY Alastair Mackenzie appears on it as Archie.

I also loved when they spoofed Rosemary & Thyme (even Felicity Kendall and Pam Ferris appeared in that). I cannot recall where the sketch is on their DVDs. Maybe someone here can help?

My favourite French & Saunders collaboration is the series Let them Eat Cake http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0187653 with Adrian Scarborough, Alison Steadman, Lucy Punch, Maggie Steed, etc.

Le them Eat Cake was amaing.

I love most of what they've done. I think I prefer Saunders of the two but that's based more on their solo work than what happens on F&S

The movie parodies were amazing. I loved Star Wars!

I'm glad I'm not the only Let Them Eat Cake fan! Most people have never even heard of it (I'm in the US). It's such a fun show with so many great actors -- it really deserves to reach a larger audience.
