For me..
1. Stanley Kubrick never winning anything except Special Effects.
2. Al Pacino not winning til Scent of a woman.
3. Morgan Freeman not winning til Million Dollar Baby.
4. Martin Scorsese not winning til the Departed
5. Sean Connery winning for the Untouchables over Denzel Washington in Cry Freedom and Morgan Freeman in Street Smart
6. Jack Palance winning for City Slickers over Tommy Lee Jones in JFK.
7. Tommy Lee Jones winning for the Fugitive over Ralph Fiennes in Schindler's List, John Malkovich in In The line of Fire, Leonardo DiCaprio in What's Eating Gilbert Grape.

for me the biggest beef is
movies that no ones really heard of and if they had heard of it its a mediocre movie at best
no on occasion they get it rite and movies like lord of the rings return of the king get there well deserved awards but for the most part some obscure movie shown at the caan film festival that no ones heard of gets all kinds of awards

My top 10 -

1, James Stewart not winning for It's a wonderful life or Anatomy of a murder
2, Peter O'Toole never winning.
3, Richard Burton never winning.
4, The Verdict not getting much.
5, Paul Newman winning for his worst oscar nominated performance.
6, Scorsese not winning until Departed.
7, Al Pacino not winning for Dog Day Afternoon.
8, Akira Kurasawa not winning best director for Ran.
9, Titanic winning 11 oscars.
10, Ben-Hur winning everything although it deserved only half the awards that year.
