$core!

Don't you just love it when you're out shopping and you stumble across a bunch of bargains when you least expect it?

I dunno where I got today's Chili craving from, (probably from someone's thread/post), but about lunchtime today I just had to have me some Chili. So, off to WalMart (the closest supermarket around) I went. And SHAZZAM, I found a buncha bargains. And as I've said many times before: "Even if I were a Jillionaire, I still love a bargain."

I scored:

1. Great Value (WalMart's store brand) Chili w. beans .62 cents for 12oz can.
as opposed to $1.88 for the (disappointing the last time I bought it Hormel) $core!
I only bought 2 cans--I wish I'd bought 10 because it tastes just like Hormel.

2. Red Seedless grapes (very sweet) $1.67 a pound! usually $2.99 a pound. $core, bought 2 1/2 lbs.

3. Di Giorno "Rising Crust" Supreme pizza, $3.50!! Normally it's $5.47. $core!

4. 2 litre of Sprite zero $1.00, normally $1.50. $core!

5. Head of Iceberg lettuce .93 normally $1.94 $core!

6. Ball Park Beef Franks 16 piece pack $4.94, normally $3.98 for an 8 pack. $core!

7. Wheat bread .78! (dunno what it usually costs) $core!

8. And last but not least 18 Extra Large eggs $1.08! $core!!

I guess I just picked the right day to go shopping, but I'm pretty pleased with meself.  So what about you guys--has anyone "scored" lately?

Sprouts has some good loss leaders on the front page of their circular. Best to go on Wednesdays to get both weeks' sales.

I scored a lot of good deals today at the commissary. There was a LOT of meat on the hot rack. I picked up 3 packs of cubed steaks, a pack of thick cut pork chops, 2 packs of gizzards, all that for well under $10. Ground beef was about $2/lb so I got a couple of those, it's normally about $3-4 out in town. Prepackaged lunch meat was $2.50/lb and I bought one of each flavor.

I like when my usual store has bogo sales. You don't have to buy two to get the sale price so it's basically half price deals on the items. I also try to shop there on Tuesdays, that's when meat that was cut for the weekend goes on deep discount. I'm pretty picky about buying meat on the hot rack because it is a few days old, and once we get home it goes straight in the freezer.

Uh huh, it's Wednesdays for bargain-meat day in these parts. That's why I usually try to shop on Wednesdays. You usually find a two pack of rib eyes marked down to $13.96 from say..$22.88.

I'll buy those and eat one the same day and freeze the other. 

Winn-Dixie has marked down meat pretty much every day. I try to stick with that and the BOGO's and I do every well in the $core department. 

I KNOW!!  My dad must be up there laughing (or crying) to see it at that price. He would have loved to sell his Black Angus at that price!

I bought some a couple of weeks ago for $3.98lb. I got two pounds and broke each one down into four freezer bags. Luckily, with just the two of us, I can stretch it for awhile.
