"boards are no longer providing a positive, useful experience"

I wonder how they came to this conclusion without holding a poll. What I dislike the most about the shutdown is that the owner of this site is too much of a coward to tell us the true reason. I assume these reasons are shameful. If you think I will drink Hollywood kool aid just because the boards aren't there, you're gravely mistaken.

We live in an alternative fact, post-truth world! Nothing is ever true!

But my guess is IMDB/Amazon want to dramatically reduce the cost of the site so the boards have got to go. Just a guess, of course.

reply

I don't think these old boards cost them money, I think the bad reviews in the comment section are making studios nervous so they agreed to compensate imdb with the loss of revenue if they closed their boards. That's how desperate big studios have become to suppress negative reviews.

Their reasoning is because of everyone "migrating" to that holy hell called facebook? Just shoot me.

reply

Facebook and twitter were never a place of discussion, it's a place to "like" what they say. Basically, they're destroying the boards because we are allowed to say we don't like the crap Hollywood is serving.

reply

Too many trolls was the reason.
