Any fellow IMDB refugees here?

Aloha, all.

I've been drifting around without a classic movie chat home for the past couple of years since the IMDB message boards shut down. I hadn't been posting frequently for some months prior, so when the boards went, it was a bit of a shock to me and I didn't have a chance to see if anyone had a plan B. I was thinking about the old discussions, as I sometimes do around the holidays when people tend to hunker down with their old favorites. It occurred to me there may be others who found rooms elsewhere, so thought I'd take a look. Word is this has most of the same categories, and has even copied some of the old threads over from IMDB. Looks much slower than the lively daily discussions we used to have, but worth a shot.

Seems I recognize one or two familiar screen names here. I used to go by ClassicMovieholic, but apparently that screen name is too long by one letter, so the "c" got cut off the end. During some periods I was relatively active on the Classic Film board, mostly replying to others' threads but occasionally posting my own. I was also pretty active on the 'Gone With The Wind' board and a few other classics adjacent boards.

I'd love to reconnect with anyone who also happened upon here from the old days, or just meet new classic movie fans in general. It's hard having an interest not everybody shares and not having anyone to talk with about it.

Hello! Welcome to Movie Chat! :)

I am too an IMDB refugee, but I went by a different name. Didn’t post as much, I visited the boards daily though. Loved to read the comments and opinions on movies.

Now I am posting on here much more, because I really like the site and as it is still relatively small, I would like to contribute to the conversation.

Actually I’ve been really curious to know how many active members are on Movie Chat in total.

Yes, I was on IMDB for years under a different name. I really like MC.

I was wondering what happened with the IMDB boards and just found them here. Looks like most of them made the transition except for Teri Garr so far.

Can you define what movies are considered "Classics" in your opinion?
