Have We Got A Video?

How many of you still use a VHS or Beta machine?

reply

I have a VHS machine just in case someone has a tape I need to see but I haven't used it in years.

Hi Lament666,
if you ask whether I still have a VHS machine, I can reply in the affirmative. That's the good news. And now the bad news: It's been out of order for some 6 months or so, by now - I'll have to wait whether the same model shows up (on ebay or the like) so that I can replace the malfunctional part. That is, I myself couldn't do it, but I could give the machine to a repair service.
Several of those movies which I have in my collection are now "unavailable" for me because there IS no DVD (and if so, it's only in a format -region1- which I can't play)...
"The Earthling" I would like to watch once again (Ricky Schroder is one of my favourite - former - boy actors), a.s.a.p.; and there are two great movies with Nathaniel Moreau that are just shelved and collect dust, now: Last Winter, and still better, The Kissing Place.
Unavailable on DVD!!
I think even should I find no way to have the machine repaired I still should keep many of my VHS cassettes; just for the sake of nostalgia...
Kind regards
sprendlinger

I have an old VCR to play my old VHS tapes. Eventually of course it will go belly up. Then I'll have to transfer tapes to DVDs.

Hello lament666,
I still keep a VHS machine - there are still lots of great old movies which never made it on dvd... At least not on official releases (and the big disadvantage of cheaply made b**tl*gs is that they tend to crumble to pieces within a short time ;-)
There's a great web page I just found (I hope it won't get me in troubles with the admin. to name it here - I must emphasize that it's a strictly NON-commercial site, i.e. they only present old movies on VHS without selling any of them; basically it's collectors showing to others their treasures; so I think it's OK) -
VHScollector.com
Wonderfully illustrated with tons of cover (front/back) pictures; there are forums, threads, movie reviews etc. !
Kind regards
