How Did You Discover IMDb?

Back in 2006, a few weeks after High School Musical premiered and I happened to see it (and secretly liked it lol) I googled it to see more on the chick playing Gabriella (Vanessa Hudgens) and a link to its page on here came up and I was looking through everything and discovered the message boards etc. and began reading comments etc.

I then noticed all movies/shows were on there etc. but I never got too involved and didnt make an account until a few years ago. I didnt care to comment but just read the comments.

Eventually I signed up (like 7 or 8 years later of just lurking) and the rest is History lol

What about you?

I used to be an editor on TVTome.com, which has long ago been sold to the future (and inferior) TV.com. There was a link to IMDb on every actor's page, so I checked it out one day and became a member. I liked how well-structured, consistent, and organized it was compared to TVTome.

I liked the contributing aspect to TVTome. This was before Wikipedia was really huge and I was just a high-school student at the time so I had the time to kill. I contributed quite a bit to IMDb, as well. I tried to contribute to Wikipedia but they didn't want me. 

One site that I find myself on a lot that reminds me of what TVTome was once upon a time (and what snotty Wikipedia would never lower itself down to be) is TVTropes.com. I'm not sure if it has messageboards or anything, but it's a community that embraces informality and free thought. It's loads of fun, even if you just want to read up on your favorite shows, actors, and movies and look at them in a new, less-biographical way.

Jesse, you must be close to my age, but damn Turner... you must have been young as hell at the time TVTome was around. Wow

I dont remember the details, but it was around late 2005, so I was a sophomore in HS. Saw 2 had just come out and wanted to find out more about it and I ended up making an account here and going to that movie's message boards. I think from 2005-2009 that's where I was pretty much spending all of my time here, the Saw boards (Saw 2, 3, 4, etc)

Also spent some time on the Survivor boards, and that's where Zucchini found me
